Multi-kilowatt single-mode ytterbium-doped large-core fiber laser

open access: yes, 2009
We have demonstrated a highly efficient cladding-pumped ytterbium-doped fiber laser, generating >2.1 kW of continuous-wave output power at 1.1 µm with 74% slope efficiency with respect to launched pump power.

Wavelength-independent coupler from fiber to an on-chip cavity, demonstrated over an 850nm span [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A robust wide band (850 nm) fiber coupler to a whispering-gallery cavity with ultra-high quality factor is experimentally demonstrated. The device trades off ideality for broad-band, efficient input coupling.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Exogenous application of bio-stimulant and growth retardant improved the productivity of cotton cultivars under different planting arrangement

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2021
Optimum planting arrangement is an important attribute for efficient utilization of available resources and to obtain high yield of cotton. Application of plant growth promoter and retardant on cotton in improved planting density are the innovative ...

Single Muscle Fiber Proteomics Reveals Fiber-Type-Specific Features of Human Muscle Aging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Skeletal muscle is a key tissue in human aging, which affects different muscle fiber types unequally. We developed a highly sensitive single muscle fiber proteomics workflow to study human aging and show that the senescence of slow and fast muscle fibers

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Planting Date Effects on Cotton Lint Yield and Fiber Quality in the U.S. Southern High Plains

open access: yesAgriculture, 2019
Cotton planting date effects in the U.S. Southern High Plains (SHP) were evaluated based on 11 years of May-planted and June-planted irrigated variety trials.

(Re)-conciliation of genetics and genomics approaches for cotton fiber quality improvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The integration of genomics and plant breeding is driven by the increasing availability of sequence resources and by technological developments. The simultaneous measurement of the expression of thousands of genes is possible, and comparisons between ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Introduction of Fiber Quality Analyzer.

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1996
It is known that shape characteristic of fiber has influence on physical property of pulp and paper. However there was no proper means to measure the shape of fiber up to now and took a lot of time and work to measure it with conventional means. Now we would like to introduce an automatic measuring instrument to measure length and shape of each fiber ...
