Fibre DFB lasers in a 4x10 Gbit/s WDM link with a single sinc-sampled fibre grating dispersion compensator

open access: yes, 1998
WDM transmission and dispersion compensation at 40 Gbit/s over 200 km standard fibre is demonstrated on a 100 GHz grid using four high power single-polarisation single-sided output DFB fibre laser based transmitters and a single 4 channel WDM chirped ...

Time‐Stretched Interferometric LiDAR with Dispersive Wavenumber‐to‐Time Range Encoding

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
We present a time‐stretched interferometric LiDAR that directly encodes distance into time‐domain interference signals. Operating at 5 MHz with only millimeter‐level coherence length, the system measures up to 12 m with centimeter precision and resolution, achieving high‐speed 3D imaging and dynamic target detection without FFT processing or long ...

Highly Versatile Real‐Time Optical Noise Filtering Through Temporal Cloaking

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Conventional bandpass filtering strategies may be insufficient for recovering optical waveforms under extremely noisy conditions. We demonstrate a temporal‐cloaking denoising strategy enabled by the temporal Talbot effect, which concentrates the coherent signal of interest into short temporal slots while broadband noise remains temporally spread.

Exploring Thermal and Mechanical Strains During Laying Down Process in Fused Filament Fabrication

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study analyzes strain evolution and thermal behavior during FFF of PLA using strain gauges and infrared imaging. Microstrain levels depend on printing conditions, with adhesion‐induced compression during cooling and peak strains in early layers. Microtomography shows minimal porosity, while thermal imaging reveals rapid heat penetration, strong ...

Novel Sulfur‐Rich Polymers from Inverse Vulcanization as Functional Building Blocks for Photonics

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Isopropenyl aromatic comonomers, in particular novel 2,7‐diisopropenylfluorene and 2,8‐diisopropenyldibenzothiophene, synthesized by sustainable, facile, single‐step SMCCR from available brominated substrates are exploited in the Inverse Vulcanization process to obtain functional Sulfur‐rich macromolecular materials.

Strain Development During Cure of Partially Pre‐Cured Thermosetting Composites Measured With Distributed Fiber Optic Sensors

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the beneficial effect of ply pre‐curing on temperature overshoot, internal strain and warpage during cure of thin and thick thermosetting composites. ABSTRACT Detection of manufacturing‐induced defects in thermosetting composites is crucial to guarantee part quality, safety, and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Short-wavelength transmission-loss suppression in fibre Bragg gratings

open access: yes, 1997
Fibre Bragg Gratings (FBGs) are known to suffer from short-wavelength, transmission losses due to resonant coupling into backward-propagating cladding modes. Figure 1 shows a typical transmission spectrum of a 10cm standard FBG.

Unlocking Klockmannite: Formation of Colloidal Quasi‐2D CuSe Nanocrystals and Photo‐Physical Properties Arising From Crystal Anisotropy

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Thiol‐free hot injection approach yields quasi‐2D klockmannite CuSe nanocrystals, specifically nanosheets and uniform triangular nanoplatelets. This study reconsiders the klockmannite from the point of view of crystal anisotropy and demonstrates its effect on plasmonic response in the near‐infrared spectral region with the theoretical emergence of ...

Record‐Low Compressibility in [N(C2H5)3CH3]FeCl4 Expands Phase Engineering Horizons in Hybrid Molecular Ferroelectrics

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
High‐pressure studies of the lead‐free hybrid organic–inorganic ferroelectric [N(C2H5)3CH3]FeCl4 demonstrate record low compressibility, establishing it as the least compressible molecular ferroelectric known. In situ diamond anvil cell experiments identify halide selection and inorganic sublattice tuning as key compressibility controls, advancing ...
