Time-trends and treatment gaps in the antithrombotic management of patients with atrial fibrillation after percutaneous coronary intervention: Insights from the CHUM AF-STENT Registry. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: The management of atrial fibrillation and flutter (AF) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has undergone a rapid recent evolution. In 2016, the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) published expert recommendations to

Comparative performance of CHA2DS2VASc and anticoagulation and risk factors in atrial fibrillation risk scores for predicting mortality in patients with COVID-19

open access: yesInternational Journal of the Cardiovascular Academy, 2021
Background: The AnTicoagulation and Risk factors in Atrial fibrillation (ATRIA) and CHA2DS2VASc risk scores used to detect the thromboembolic and hemorrhagic risk in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients has been shown recently to predict poor clinical ...

Sensing Cells-Peptide Hydrogel Interaction In Situ via Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy

open access: yesCells, 2022
Peptide-based hydrogels were shown to serve as good matrices for 3D cell culture and to be applied in the field of regenerative medicine. The study of the cell-matrix interaction is important for the understanding of cell attachment, proliferation, and ...

Quiescent Elongation of α-Synuclein Pre-form Fibrils Under Different Solution Conditions

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
The intracellular aggregation of α-synuclein in neurons/glia is considered to be a key step in the pathogenesis of synucleinopathy [including Parkinson’s disease (PD), dementia with Lewy body (DLB), multiple system atrophy (MSA), etc.].

Advanced ablation strategies for management of post-surgical atrial arrhythmias. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Post-surgical arrhythmias include a wide range of arrhythmias occurring late after cardiac surgery and represent a complex substrate for catheter ablation either because of extended scar and remodeling or because of limited access to the area of interest.

Is This Atrial Fibrillation? [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, 2009
A 19‐year‐old girl was referred to our cardiology department for catheter ablation (isolation of the pulmonary veins) of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). The diagnosis was made upon a 12‐lead ECG of the arrhythmia documented in the emergency room. The ECG showed an irregular tachycardia without wide QRS complexes.

Long-term results of ablation index guided atrial fibrillation ablation: insights after 5+ years of follow-up from the MPH AF Ablation Registry

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundCatheter ablation (CA) for symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) offers the best outcomes for patients. Despite the benefits of CA, a significant proportion of patients suffer a recurrence; hence, there is scope to potentially improve outcomes ...

Evaluating cardiac anatomy as a predictor for success after pulmonary vein isolation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction: Atrial Fibrillation is a condition characterized by the production of ectopic beats by the heart. One common treatment for Atrial Fibrillation is catheter guided pulmonary vein isolation (PVI), however this treatment is only effective in ...
