Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

Characterization of therapeutic antibodies targeting lymphatic and vascular resistance factor for the treatment of hypervascularized and highly metastatic cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LVRF (lymphatic and vascular resistance factor) is a VEGFA splice variant upregulated in response to anti‐angiogenic therapy that fosters tumor adaptation through enhanced vascularization, lymphangiogenesis, and metastatic dissemination. Targeting LVRF with fully human neutralizing antibodies disrupts these processes and limits resistant tumor growth ...

Fibroblast S1PR2 Amplifies NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation Under Pressure Overload

open access: yes
BACKGROUND: Although NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3) inflammasome activation has been implicated in pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy, inflammation, and heart failure, prior ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Pharmacological Inhibition of S100A4 Attenuates Fibroblast Activation and Renal Fibrosis

open access: yes, 2022
The TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway is an important process in the pathogenesis of kidney fibrosis. However, the molecular mechanisms are not completely elucidated.

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Fibroblast growth factor 9 activates fibroblast activation and drives the progress of shoulder stiffness

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Background Shoulder stiffness (SS) is a common disease that causes pain and restricted range of motion (ROM), involving synovial inflammation and joint capsule fibrosis. The specific pathogenesis of SS remains unclear. This study aimed to delineate the key molecular driving capsule fibrosis in SS.

Amelioration of Type 2 Diabetes by Antibody-Mediated Activation of Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 1

open access: yes, 2011
Antibody-mediated activation of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 reverses the diabetic phenotype in mice, likely by affecting brown adipose tissues.

Lower cerebrospinal fluid/plasma fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) ratios and placental FGF21 production in gestational diabetes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Objectives: Circulating Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (FGF21) levels are increased in insulin resistant states such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). In addition, GDM is associated with serious maternal and fetal
