Fibroblast Activation Protein in Remodeling Tissues
Current Molecular Medicine, 2012Tissue remodeling is critical during development and wound healing. It also characterizes a number of pathologic conditions, including chronic inflammation, fibrosis and cancer. It is well appreciated that reactive stromal cells play critical roles in these settings.

Sialyltransferase activities of aging diploid fibroblasts
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1979Sialyltransferase activity and cell-cell adhesion rates of aging WI-38 cells were studied to determine the possible basis for a previously described decrease in membrane bound sialic acid and loss of proliferation of senescent cells. Ectosialyltransferase was demonstrated on the surface of both young and old WI-38 cells.

Extracellular Matrix and Fibroblast Activation in Lymphangioleiomyomatosis
American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular BiologyAbstract Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease caused by hyperactivation of the mTORC1 (mechanistic/mammalian target of rapamycin 1) growth pathway in a subset of mesenchymal lung cells. Histopathologically, LAM lesions have been described as immature smooth muscle–like cells that are positive for the immature ...

Epidermal Regulation of Dermal Fibroblast Activity
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1998Although the association between delayed burn wound healing and subsequent hypertrophic scar formation is well-established, the mechanism for this relationship is unknown. Unhealed burn wounds lack an epidermis, suggesting a possible regulatory role for the epidermis in controlling dermal fibroblast matrix synthesis.

The Role and Application of Fibroblast Activating Protein
Current Molecular MedicineAbstract: Fibroblast activation protein-α (FAP), a type-II transmembrane serine protease, is rarely expressed in normal tissues but highly abundant in pathological diseases, including fibrosis, arthritis, and cancer. Ever since its discovery, we have deciphered its structure and biological properties and continue to investigate its roles in various ...
