Upconversion Nanoparticle‐Covalent Organic Framework Core–shell Particles as Therapeutic Microrobots Trackable With Optoacoustic Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Upconversion nanoparticle‐covalent organic framework core–shell particles provide enhanced contrast for optoacoustic imaging by leveraging the optical absorption of upconversion luminescence within the covalent organic framework matrix. Beyond their role as contrast agents, these particles enable customizable therapeutic agent loading and release, as ...

Hydrogel‐Mediated Preservation of Live Tumor Explants for Drug Development in Peritoneal Metastases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a hyaluronan‐based hydrogel platform preserving the native tumor microenvironment (morphology, tissue composition, histology) of patient‐derived explants from peritoneal metastases, enabling clinically relevant drug screening. Hydrogel properties such as stiffness and degradation are crucial for longer‐term histoculture.

Structured Light Projection Using Image Guide Fibers for In Situ Photo‐biofabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐based biofabrication is typically performed with single wavelength light sources and within benchtop devices. This work demonstrates FaSt‐Light (Fiber‐assisted Structured Light) as a new approach to achieve multiwavelength image projection using flexible image guide fibers, which enables a variety of applications for in situ biofabrication ...

Fibroblast growth factor 2

Differentiation, 2023
Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2), also known as basic fibroblast growth factor, is a potent stimulator of growth and differentiation in multiple tissues. Its discovery traces back over 50 years ago when it was first isolated from bovine pituitary extracts due to its ability to stimulate fibroblast proliferation.

Fibroblast growth factor-2

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 2000
Fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) is a member of a large family of proteins that bind heparin and heparan sulfate and modulate the function of a wide range of cell types. FGF-2 stimulates the growth and development of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) that contribute to the pathogenesis of several diseases (i.e.

Fibroblast growth factor-2 and cardioprotection

Heart Failure Reviews, 2007
Boosting myocardial resistance to acute as well as chronic ischemic damage would ameliorate the detrimental effects of numerous cardiac pathologies and reduce the probability of transition to heart failure. Experimental cardiology has pointed to ischemic and pharmacological pre- as well as post-conditioning as potent acute cardioprotective ...

FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTOR 1 AND FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTOR 2 IMMUNOREACTIVITY IN GASTROINTESTINAL TUMOURS

The Journal of Pathology, 1997
Acidic and basic fibroblast growth factors (FGF-1 and FGF-2) are mitogenic polypeptides that may play a role in autocrine and paracrine growth control of malignant tumours. We have examined the expression of FGF-1 and FGF-2 in a series of 41 colorectal tumours (24 adenomas, 17 adenocarcinomas) and 50 gastric adenocarcinomas (23 intestinal, 27 diffuse),

A Glycopolymer Chaperone for Fibroblast Growth Factor-2

Bioconjugate Chemistry, 2004
Mono- and disaccharide-containing glycopolymers were synthesized by cyanoxyl-mediated polymerization of acrylamide with acrylate-derivatized mono- and disaccharides. We demonstrate that a glycopolymer bearing pendant, fully sulfated lactose units effectively replaces heparin and heparan sulfate as a molecular chaperone for fibroblast growth factor-2 ...
