Stem cell‐based embryo models (SCBEMs) are valuable to study early developmental milestones. Matrigel, a basement membrane matrix, is a critical substrate used in various SCBEM protocols, but its role in driving stem cell lineage commitment is not clearly defined.

Epithelial-mesenchymal interactions are critical for the formation of gastrointestinal buds such as the cecum from the midgut, but the mechanisms regulating this process remain unclear. To investigate this problem, we have studied the temporal and spatial expression of key genes known to orchestrate branching morphogenesis.

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2, bFGF) has been proposed to regulate wound healing and angiogenesis, but skin wound healing in FGF2-knockout (FGF2-KO) animals is only slightly delayed.

The role of circular RNAs in regulating cytokine signaling in cancer
Cytokines present in the tumor microenvironment fuel cancer development. Aberrant expression of circRNAs contributes to cancer progression. Cytokines are involved in regulating circRNA biogenesis. Furthermore, aberrantly expressed circRNAs regulate the expression of ligands, receptors, and downstream effectors involved in cytokine signaling to promote ...

We have studied mechanisms controlling activation of the gelatinase B gene (matrix metalloproteinase-9) by fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) during angiogenesis, and the effects of the natural product curcuminoids on this process.

Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.
