Murine Models and Human Cell Line Models to Study Altered Dynamics of Ovarian Follicles in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The manuscript examines preclinical murine and human models to study polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), delving into the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying altered ovarian follicular dynamics. It explores the cellular interactions involved in normal and PCOS ovaries and outlines the current and novel strategies in the search for preclinical ...

Ligand-induced Coupling versus Receptor Pre-association: Cellular automaton simulations of FGF-2 binding [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Theor. Biol. 227(2) 239-251 (2004), 2003
The binding of basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2) to its cell surface receptor (CSR) and subsequent signal transduction is known to be enhanced by Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycans (HSPGs). HSPGs bind FGF-2 with low affinity and likely impact CSR-mediated signaling via stabilization of FGF-2-CSR complexes via association with both the ligand and the ...

Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Injectable Chitosan–Guar Gum Hydrogel Reinforced with Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers for Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the development and characterization of injectable nanocomposite hydrogels based on N‐succinyl chitosan, oxidized guar gum, and bacterial cellulose nanofibers. Emphasizing enhanced mechanical properties and biocompatibility, the hydrogels exhibit fast gelation, improved structural integrity, and reduced swelling. Their potential for

Fibroblast Growth Factor-23 (FGF-23) in Patients with Regular Hemodialysis: A Risk Factor for Restless Legs Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is one of the most common sleep disturbance problems in dialysis patients. In this study, we would like to explore some of bone and mineral marker disorder especially fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23)and its ...

Experimental Investigation of Distant Cellular Interaction among Adipose Derived Stem-Cells [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In addition to chemical and mechanical interactions between cells electromagnetic field produced by cells has been considered as another form of signaling for cell-cell communication. The aim of this study is evaluation of electromagnetic effects on viability of Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) without co-culturing.

Joule‐Assisted Nanotherapeutic Urethral Stent (JANUS) for Spatiotemporal Theragenerative Treatment of Urethral Strictures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Joule‐assisted nanotherapeutic urethral stent harnesses a smart, biodegradable magnesium stent to orchestrate spatiotemporal theragenerative therapy for urethral strictures. Magnetically induced Joule heating enables on‐demand drug release and bacterial ablation, while simultaneously guiding urothelial regeneration.

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.
