Effect of Coptischinensis, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and Fermented Glycine max Extract as Proactive Therapy for Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the Coptis chinensis, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and fermented Glycine max (3Hb) extract on lipid barrier recovery and the alleviation of atopic dermatitis (AD). The 3Hb extract was administered to lipid

Atopic Dermatitis Host and Environment Model: Revisiting Therapeutic Options [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Atopic Dermatitis affects both children and adults and is a serious health concern in many countries. AD is a complex disease with host and environmental factors underlying its pathology. Its treatment is multidimensional reflecting the diverse nature of

GP37 Is Different From Filaggrin

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1990
The identity of two differentiation markers of human epidermis, filaggrin and a Concanavalin A (Con-A) reactive glycoprotein of 37 kD, has been studied. Human epidermis was extracted in Nonidet P-40 buffer, and the soluble proteins were separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis.

Investigation of the skin recovery dynamics following acute sleep deprivation and the correlations among biological parameters

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sleep deprivation leads to changes in circadian rhythm, causing skin problems and aging. Whether acute sleep deprivation can be normalized after 14 days of natural skin metabolism is an important indicator for guiding treatment of sleep‐related skin physiological changes and mechanisms.

Role of Antimicrobial Peptides in the Pathogenesis of Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by barrier dysfunction, immune dysregulation, and microbial dysbiosis. Recent studies have highlighted the multifaceted roles of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) both as innate defenders against microbial invasion and as regulators of immune responses and skin barrier ...

Expression of Filaggrin and its Degradation Products in Human Skin Following Erythemal Doses of Ultraviolet B Irradiation

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 2017
Epidermal filaggrin level is affected by ultraviolet B irradiation in animal and experimental models. This study examined the effect of ultraviolet B irradiation on epidermal filaggrin and natural moisturizing factors in vivo in healthy adults (n = 22 ...

Atopic eczema [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Atopic eczema is an itchy inflammatory skin disease with a chronic relapsing–remitting course; it has increased in prevalence in recent decades and now affects up to 25% of school-aged children in the developed world and up to 10% of adults.

Filaggrin and eczema

open access: yesJournal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, 2008
Recent genetic findings demonstrate an important role for the epidermal protein filaggrin in the aetiology of atopic diseases, including asthma as well as eczema. Filaggrin is critical to the conversion of keratinocytes to the protein/lipid squames that compose the stratum corneum, the outermost barrier layer of the skin.

Safety Evaluation of Fine Bubble Shower Washing for Patients With Atopic Dermatitis: A Double‐Blind, Randomized, Prospective Crossover Clinical Trial

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Atopic dermatitis (AD) involves chronic eczema resulting from barrier dysfunction. Fine bubble (FB) technology generates microbubbles (< 100 μm) and ultrafine bubbles (< 1 μm) for surfactant‐sparing cleansing. We assessed the short‐term safety of an FB shower in AD.

Clinical presentation of atopic dermatitis by filaggrin gene mutation status during the first 7 years of life in a prospective cohort study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundFilaggrin null mutations result in impaired skin barrier functions, increase the risk of early onset atopic dermatitis and lead to a more severe and chronic disease.
