CD93—An emerging vascular target in cancer therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract CD93 is a single‐pass transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the C‐type lectin domain group XIV family of proteins. Although it is known to be expressed in other cell types, namely, in some subsets of immune cells, CD93 is primarily expressed on endothelial cells, where it acts as a crucial regulator of angiogenesis.

FiloDetect: automatic detection of filopodia from fluorescence microscopy images

open access: yes, 2015
Background Filopodia are small cellular projections that help cells to move through and sense their environment. Filopodia play crucial roles in processes such as development and wound-healing.

Filopodia and their links with membrane traffic and cell adhesion. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Filopodia are dynamic, narrow, plasma membrane protrusions filled with bundled actin filaments. Fresh actin monomers are incorporated at the tips furthest away from the cell body, where barbed end polymerases such as formins and Ena/VASP proteins are ...

Ceramide‐mediated orchestration of oxidative stress response through filopodia‐derived small extracellular vesicles

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are shed from the plasma membrane, but the regulation and function of these EVs remain unclear. We found that oxidative stress induced by H2O2 in Hela cells stimulated filopodia formation and the secretion of EVs.

A rapid transfer of virions coated with heparan sulfate from the ECM to CD151 defines an early step in the human papillomavirus infection cascade

open access: yeseLife
Human Papillomaviruses (HPVs) are the underlying cause of several types of cancer; albeit, they are mostly known for their association with cervical carcinoma. The virions reach their target cells through a break in the epithelial barrier.

Inception Mechanisms of Tunneling Nanotubes

open access: yesCells, 2019
Tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) are thin membranous tubes that interconnect cells, representing a novel route of cell-to-cell communication and spreading of pathogens. TNTs form between many cell types, yet their inception mechanisms remain elusive. We review

Cell‐Migration Visualization: Task Taxonomy, Systematic Review and Research Agenda

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present an expert‐validated task taxonomy for cell migration analysis and a PRISMA‐based systematic review that maps visualization tools to the tasks they support and the techniques they employ. This synthesis identifies current gaps and outlines opportunities for future research in cell migration visualization.

Emerging Roles of PSTPIP2 in Autoimmunity: From Mechanism to Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
PSTPIP2 acts as a key brake on myeloid inflammation by suppressing IL‐1β‐driven signalling, macrophage dysregulation and inflammation‐associated bone remodelling. Its emerging roles in CRMO/CMO, rheumatoid arthritis, SAPHO syndrome and bullous pemphigoid support its potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target.

Following the footprints of variability during filopodia growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Filopodia are actin-built finger-like dynamic structures that protrude from the cell cortex. These structures can sense the environment and play key roles in migration and cell-cell interactions.
