Visualization of Endothelial Actin Cytoskeleton in the Mouse Retina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Angiogenesis requires coordinated changes in cell shape of endothelial cells (ECs), orchestrated by the actin cytoskeleton. The mechanisms that regulate this rearrangement in vivo are poorly understood - largely because of the difficulty to visualize ...

Role of ARP2/3 Complex-Driven Actin Polymerization in RSV Infection

open access: yesPathogens, 2021
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading viral agent causing bronchiolitis and pneumonia in children under five years old worldwide. The RSV infection cycle starts with macropinocytosis-based entry into the host airway epithelial cell membrane ...

Modulating Calcium Homeostasis via a Biomimetic Scaffold to Rescue Diabetic Ischemic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This strategy addresses impaired microcirculation and loss of extracellular matrix (ECM) guidance in diabetic wound healing. Musc@CP, a nanofibrous dressing combining an ECM‐mimetic chitosan‐pullulan scaffold with muscone, enhances perfusion by attenuating intracellular Ca2+ overload‐associated endothelial dysfunction.

Red Blood Cells as Endogenous Biotweezers for Optical Micromanipulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By synergistically integrating the long‐distance manipulation fiber probe (LDMFP) and endogenous red blood cells (RBCs) as biocompatible optical elements, a natural RBC biotweezer was developed for the desired microparticle manipulation and immune cell activation within living vasculature, which might offer an alternative tool for intravital optical ...

Filopodia and adhesion in cancer cell motility

open access: yes, 2011
Slender bundled actin containing plasma membrane protrusions, called filopodia, are important for many essential cellular processes like cell adhesion, migration, angiogenesis and the formation of cell-cell contacts. In migrating cells, filopodia are the

Heat‐Suppressing Projection Two‐Photon Lithography Enables High‐Throughput Sub‐Micrometer Manufacturing of Biopolymer Hydrogels for Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The iLEAP technique integrates high‐throughput two‐photon lithography with extrusion printing, bridging sub‐micrometer precision and macroscopic scaffold fabrication. By employing a low‐exothermic photoinitiator, it mitigates thermal damage to biopolymers and preserves bioactivity.

Hydrolyzed Collagen from Salmon Skin Increases the Migration and Filopodia Formation of Skin Keratinocytes by Activation of FAK/Src Pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Previous studies reported hydrolyzed collagen increase cell proliferation and migration involved in the wound repair process. Nevertheless, the knowledge related with wound repair mechanism of hydrolyzed collagen from salmon skin (HCSS) has not been ...

Sodium channel b2 subunit promotes filopodia-like processes and expansion of the dendritic tree in developing rat hippocampal neurons

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2013
The b2 auxiliary subunit of voltage gated sodium channels (VGSCs) appears at early stages of brain development. It is abundantly expressed in the mammalian central nervous system where it forms complexes with different channel isoforms, including Nav1.2.

Alternating Shear Force of Respiration Regulates Cell Interactions of Fibroblasts and Macrophages to Promote Soft Tissue Integration of Chest Wall Polyetheretherketone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Given that PEEK chest wall implants induce shear force at the soft tissue‐implant interface due to respiratory motion in the early in vivo post‐implantation stage. We confirmed that this mechanical stimulus triggers the PIEZO1/ITGB1/YAP1 signalling axis in L929 and the STAT6/p‐STAT6 pathway in RAW264.7, which in turn mediates adhesion and migration of ...
