Determining the Cohesive Length of Rock Materials by Roughness Analysis
In this research, the cohesive length of various rock types is measured using quantitative fractography alongside a recently developed multifractal analysis.

Discrete element method to simulate continuous material by using the cohesive beam model [PDF]
The mechanical behavior of materials is usually simulated by the continuous mechanics approach. However, simulation of non-continuous phenomena like multi fracturing is not well adapted to a continuous description.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Performance of the resurfaced hip. Part 2: the influence of prosthesis stem design on remodelling and fracture of the femoral neck [PDF]
Hip resurfacing is a popular treatment for osteoarthritis in young, active patients. Previous studies have shown that occasional failures – femoral neck fracture and implant loosening, possibly associated with bone adaptation – are affected by prosthesis

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

On the role of microstructure in finite fracture mechanics
AbstractTheoretical predictions using Finite Fracture Mechanics (FFM) normally treat the material as a homogeneous continuum. However, the use of FFM involves (or implies) a material length parameter, L, which may or may not be constant depending on the version of FFM used.

This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Intermittent vibrations accelerate fracture healing in sheep [PDF]
Purpose: To investigate the effect of intermittent vibration at different intervals on bone fracture healing and optimize the vibration interval. Methods: Ninety sheep were randomized to receive no treatment (the control group), incision only (the sham ...
