Firm Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Why are there such pronounced differences in patterns of ownership and control of corporations across countries? This paper proposes that these, together with many of the stylized facts of corporate finance, can be explained by private benefits. Private benefits create waste and inefficiency but they can also act as powerful commitment devices that ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

The incorporation gene of tomato fruit firmness (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

open access: yes, 2009
Tomato fruit firmness is a polygenetic trait and depends on firmness components pericarp thickness, firmness of epidermis and firmness of flash. The accumulation of favourable traits ratio for each component (towards the increase of expression) the fruit

'Rocha' pear firmness predicted by a Vis/NIR segmented model

open access: yes, 2009
We present a segmented partial least squares (PLS) prediction model for firmness of 'Rocha' pear (Pyres communis L) during fruit ripening under shelf-life conditions. Pears were collected from three different orchards.

Effect of pre- and postharvest application of 1-methylcyclopropene on the maturation of yellow pitahaya (Selenicerus megalanthus Haw) EFECTO DE LA APLICACIÓN EN PRECOS ECHA Y EN POS COS ECHA DE 1-MCP EN LA MADURACIÓN DE PITAHAYA AMARILL A (Selenicerus megalanthus Haw)

open access: yesVitae, 2012
The effect of pre- and postharvest applications of 200 and 400 μgL-1 aqueous solutions of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on yellow pitahaya (maturity stage 3) was assessed. Changes in respiratory rate, color, firmness, soluble solids content, titratable

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
