Systematic Benchmarking of a Noise‐Tolerant Conductive Hydrogel Electrode for Epidermal Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
General schematic of the approach. Abstract Conventional Silver/Silver Chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes remain the clinical standard for electrophysiological monitoring but are hindered by poor skin conformity, mechanical rigidity, and signal degradation, particularly under motion or sweat.

Parasitic fauna of Hyphessobrycon takasei and Hyphessobrycon amapaensis (Osteichthyes: Characidae), ornamental fish of two basins from Amapá state, Brazil

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2019
This study compared the parasites fauna of Hyphessobrycon takasei and H. amapaensis from hydrographic basins in Amapá state, Brazil. Of the 42 H. takasei examined, 95.2% were parasitized by one or more species such as Dactylogyridae gen.

Atrophic Skeletal Muscle‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Transfer miR‐125a‐5p to Inhibit Bone Formation in Osteoporosis during Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A muscle‐bone endocrine pathway in aging is revealed in which extracellular vesicles released from atrophic skeletal muscle (Aged‐SKM‐EVs) inhibit bone formation. These EVs deliver miR‐125a‐5p to osteoblasts, thereby suppressing the SIRT7‐Sp7 signaling axis and osteogenic differentiation.

Crustaceans Parasitic on Fishes

open access: yesThe American Biology Teacher, 1986
Most commercial and sport fishermen, especially those who frequent marine waters, are well acquainted with parasitic crustaceans scurrying about rapidly over the external surface of fishes. Sportsmen often refer to them as "fish lice" or "sea lice". Students of biology might also want to become familiar with these curious creatures, and would probably ...

Size‐Modulated Mesoderm‐Endoderm Divergence and Myocardial Cavitation in Micropatterned Cardioids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micropatterned cardioids, CRISPR‐engineered reporter hiPSCs, deep‐tissue imaging, and single‐cell RNA sequencing are integrated to model mesoderm‐endoderm co‐development. Heart‐foregut crosstalk promotes single large cavitation inside cardioids, resembling early heart chamber formation. ABSTRACT The human heart, originating from the splanchnic mesoderm,

Pentastomid Infections in Fish

open access: yesEDIS, 2006
Pentastomes are worm-like parasites that infect various fish species, such as tilapia, danios, flagfish, and swordtails. These parasites, resembling small segmented grubs, are more closely related to crustaceans like fish lice than to true worms ...
