Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Quinolone and Colistin Resistance Genes in Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-Producing Escherichia coli of Diverse Phylogenetic Groups Isolated from Seafood in Mumbai, India

open access: yesApplied Microbiology
Contamination of coastal-marine environment with multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli has resulted in such bacteria increasingly being detected in the seafood chain.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Comparative Analysis of Volatile Substances in Aristichthys nobilis from Different Habitat Sources

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In order to investigate the differences in volatile substances of bighead carp (Aristichthys nobilis) meat from various habitats, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was employed to detect and compare the volatile substances of bighead carp meat

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Combination of GC-IMS and Nano-LC/HRMS Reveals the Mechanism of Superheated Steam Glycosylation Modification in Improving Oyster Peptide Flavor

open access: yesFoods
This study investigated the effect of superheated steam (SS) assisted glycosylation modification on the flavor profile of oyster peptides (OP), and explored the correlation between key flavor compounds and glycosylation degree using Gas Chromatography ...
