A Comparison of Children’s Fitness in the Northwest and Southwest of England [PDF]
The data from this paper was gathered from a larger cross-sectional study examining children’s physical activity participation in the Northwest and the Southwest of England. The purpose of this study was to carry out a battery of health and fitness tests

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Fit Into College: A Program to Improve Physical Activity and Dietary Intake Lifestyles Among College Students [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to determine whether a 10-week program could improve physical activity, physical fitness, body weight, dietary intake, and perceptions of exercise and diet among college 30 healthy college freshmen. Outcomes were measured at

Background Circulating fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) is a marker for various diseases. It would be highly useful to have simple and less invasive techniques for the assessment of FABP4 concentrations in the clinical research setting.

A Fitting structure is an ordered 5-tuple (H,S,\(\phi\),\(\psi\),\(\sigma)\) where H is a semigroup, S is a ring, \(\phi\) is a homomorphism of H into the multiplicative semigroup of all left S-module homomorphisms of the left regular S-module, \(\psi\) is an antihomomorphism of H into the multiplicative semigroup of all right S-module homomorphisms of

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Exaptation and emergence as mechanisms to cross fitness valleys during evolution: an example using simulated homing behaviour [PDF]
Evolution is often considered a gradual hill climbing process, slowly increasing the fitness of organisms. I investigate the evolution of homing behaviour in simulated intertidal limpets.
