Study on lapping performance of agglomerated diamond abrasive

open access: yes, 2023
A new lapping process is proposed for high efficiency and low surface roughness lapping of hard-brittle materials such as sapphire, which sinters single crystal diamond abrasive (average grain size 3 μm) with vitrified bond into agglomerated abrasives ...

Alumina lapping abrasive study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
To achieve greater quality control over lapped finishes, the 3- and 0.3-..mu..m alumina abrasives used in rough and finish lapping were studied. The 3-..mu..m abrasive was found to actually average 5 to 10 ..mu..m. The particle size distribution of the 0.

p190A/ARHGAP35 and p190B/ARHGAP5 proteins in endometrial cancer: a novel cancer‐relevant paralog interplay

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARHGAP5, in addition to the frequently mutated ARHGAP35, as significantly mutated in endometrial cancer. Mutations in both genes co‐occur and are associated with their correlated downregulation. Functional CRISPR studies show that both paralogs regulate similar pathways, including actin cytoskeleton organization.

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Study on Electrochemical Assisted Fixed-Abrasive Lapping for Wafer Thinning of Monocrystalline Silicon Carbide Wafer

open access: yesMaterials Science Forum
This study aims to develop an electrochemical assisted fixed-abrasive lapping (ECAL) process for thinning 4H-SiC wafers (C-face). Process with 20 wt% NaNO₃ electrolyte to generate a softened passivation layer has been formed and simultaneously removed by

DigiChrom: A Domain Ontology for Semantic Representation of Trivalent Chromium Platings and Its Large Language Model‐Based Alignment With Multiple Mid‐Level Ontologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Digitalizing electroplating requires both domain knowledge and interoperability. This work introduces PlatOn, a domain ontology for trivalent chromium plating and coating characterization, and a hybrid pipeline that aligns it to a mid‐level reference ontology by combining eight similarity metrics with language model reasoning. Expert‐validated mappings

Advanced Diamond Charging Process Using Vibrating Charging Ring in Fixed Abrasive Lapping

open access: yes, 2011
In the lapping of magnetic heads and other electronic components composed of multiple materials, differences in the processing characteristics of the composite materials produce residual steps on the surface at composite interfaces. Residual step heights

Microstructure‑Dependent Phase Transformations Under High‑Pressure Laser Heating in Additively Manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2 with contrasting BCC/B2‐dominant and lamellar FCC + BCC/B2 microstructures exhibits the same pressure‐induced BCC/B2 → HCP transformation. Under laser heating at high pressure, HCP is destabilized, and a cubic BCC/B2 + FCC assemblage is recovered, while the lower‐scan‐speed microstructure transforms at a lower ...

Research on the relationship between acoustic emission signal and material removal rate during fixed abrasive lapping

open access: yesJin'gangshi yu moliao moju gongcheng, 2017
Due to passivation and wear, fixed abrasive lapping pad needs to be conditioned.Material removal rate is one of the characteristic indexes to judge the condition of the lapping pad.The relationship between acoustic emission signal and material removal ...
