Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Analysis of processes and costs of alternative packaging options of sterile goods in hospitals – a case study in two German hospitals

open access: yesHealth Economics Review, 2019
Background Hospitals should monitor the costs of all direct and indirect processes in order to achieve efficiency and safeguard financial sustainability. One neglected process with significant costs is the processing of reusable medical devices and their

Non-Tariff Barriers, Market Access and Trade [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyses the effects of non-tariff barriers, in terms of both variable and fixed export costs, on trade structure. The relationship between fixed and variable trade costs determines whether international trade emerges.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Enforcement Costs and the Optimal Magnitude and Probability of Fines [PDF]

open access: yes
Some of the costs of enforcing laws are fixed" - - in the sense that they do not depend on the number of individuals who commit harmful acts- -while other costs are "variable"- - they rise with the number of such individuals.

Financial Market Frictions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Defined simply as anything that interferes with trade, financial market frictions can exist even in efficient markets. Understanding financial market frictions is important, this article argues, because they generate real costs to investors, because they

RESPONSE COST AND FIXED‐RATIO PERFORMANCE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 1964
The effects of several conditions of response cost (response‐produced point loss) upon FR 50 performance maintained by 100‐point reinforcements were investigated. Post‐reinforcement pauses did not appear under no‐cost (no points deducted per response) conditions.
