Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Efficient Fixed-Switching Modulated Finite Control Set-Model Predictive Control Based on Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The disadvantage of finite control set-model predictive control (FCS-MPC) is that the switching frequency is variable and relies on the sampling time and operating point.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A locust phase change model with multiple switching states and random perturbation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Insects such as locusts and some moths can transform from a solitarious phase when they remain in loose populations and a gregarious phase, when they may swarm.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

A Novel Fixed Switching Frequency Control Strategy Applied to an Improved Five-Level Active Rectifier

open access: yes2018 International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST), 2018
A novel fixed switching frequency control strategy applied to an improved five-level active rectifier (iFLAR) is proposed. The operation with fixed switching frequency represents a powerful advantage, since the range of the produced harmonics is well ...
