Sensitivity of an early dark matter search using the electromagnetic calorimeter as a target for the Light Dark Matter eXperiment

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX) is proposed to employ a thin tungsten target and a multi-GeV electron beam to carry out a missing momentum search for the production of dark matter candidate particles.

Feasibility of measuring the magnetic dipole moments of the charm baryons at the LHC using bent crystals

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
In this paper we revisit the idea of measuring the magnetic dipole moments of the charm baryons and, in particular, of Λ c + by studying the spin precession induced by the strong effective magnetic field inside the channels of a bent crystal.

Searching for dark sectors in multi lepton final state in e + e − collisions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Electron positron collisions are a very promising environment to search for new physics, and in particular for dark sector related observables. The most challenging experimental problem in detecting dark sector candidates is the very high associated ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Signatures of dark Higgs boson in light fermionic dark matter scenarios

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Thermal dark matter scenarios based on light (sub-GeV) fermions typically require the presence of an extra dark sector containing both a massive dark photon along with a dark Higgs boson.

DARK FORCES SEARCHES IN FIXED TARGET EXPERIMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics: Conference Series, 2014
Searches for physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) can be carried out with precise and GeV-energy-range experiments. In many string theories, a Hidden Sector, decoupled to the SM, foresees the existence of a new massive boson, the A′ or heavy photon, that weakly couples to the electromagnetic current.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Searches for hidden sectors using K + → π + X decays

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Results from the study of the rare decays K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ , K + → π + μ + μ − and K + → π + γγ at the NA62 experiment at CERN are interpreted in terms of improved limits for B K + → π + X $$ \mathcal{B}\left ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
