Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

A measurement of the K + → π + μ + μ − decay

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
A sample of 2.8 × 104 K + → π + μ + μ − candidates with negligible background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017–2018. The model-independent branching fraction is measured to be (9.15 ± 0.08) × 10 −8, a factor three more precise

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Baryonic dark forces in electron-beam fixed-target experiments

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
New GeV-scale dark forces coupling predominantly to quarks offer novel signatures that can be produced directly and searched for at high-luminosity colliders. We compute the photon-proton and electron-proton cross sections for producing a GeV-scale gauge

Search for production of an invisible dark photon in π 0 decays

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
The results of a search for π 0 decays to a photon and an invisible massive dark photon at the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS are reported. From a total of 4.12 × 108 tagged π 0 mesons, no signal is observed.

New physics searches at the ILC positron and electron beam dumps

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We study capability of the ILC beam dump experiment to search for new physics, comparing the performance of the electron and positron beam dumps. The dark photon, axion-like particles, and light scalar bosons are considered as new physics scenarios ...

Hadro-Production of Quarkonia in Fixed Target Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 1997
In this talk I review the recent progress made in the calculations of quarkonia production in fixed target experiments. NRQCD organizes the calculations in a systematic expansion in αs and v, the relative velocity between the heavy quarks. Within this formalism there are octet contributions which are not included in the color singlet model.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Dense cold matter [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
Opportunities to study unexplored domains of nuclear matter phase diagram with BM@N and SPD-NICA is discussed. Since the optimal initial energy range depends on the phase diagram domain, the subject and experimental methods for its study have a lot of ...
