Nucleotide Metabolism in Health and Disease
Nucleotide metabolism, including de novo synthesis, salvage pathways, and catabolism, when dysregulated contributes to cancer, immune disorders, metabolic and urological diseases, and radiation injury. Metabolites such as adenosine, cGAMP, NAD, and cAMP and enzymes like RNR are promising therapeutic targets and biomarkers.

Inhibiting Nampt using FK866 increased cell senescence in MSCs obtained from the young group.
Cells were treated with 10 nM FK866 for 72 h. (A) Unlike the controls, which displayed normal morphologies, the MSCs treated with FK866 were flattened and enlarged and displayed senescence-like morphological features.

Fetal growth restriction is associated with placental metabolic adaptations. In small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta (SGA), cholesterol receptors and steroidogenic enzymes are upregulated, enhancing steroidogenesis. NAD salvage pathway is also increased to support NADP+/NADPH requirements.

Background and Purpose Endometriosis is a chronic, hormone‐dependent disorder characterized by ectopic implantation of endometrial tissue, often accompanied by pain and infertility. Although the progesterone receptor modulator RU486 is effective for pain relief, its impact on lesion regression is limited, possibly due to apoptosis resistance and ...
