Combustion Dynamics of Swirling Flame at Thermochemical Conversion of Biomass

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
Development of the swirling flame dynamics at thermo chemical conversion of biomass (wood pellets) has been investigated experimentally at a low swirl number of the swirling flame flow (S < 0.6), different rates of biomass thermal decomposition and ...

Scaling, Propagation, and Kinetic Roughening of Flame Fronts in Random Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We introduce a model of two coupled reaction-diffusion equations to describe the dynamics and propagation of flame fronts in random media. The model incorporates heat diffusion, its dissipation, and its production through coupling to the background ...

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Propagation of the First Flames in Type Ia Supernovae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the competition of the different physical processes that can affect the evolution of a flame bubble in a Type Ia supernovae -- burning, turbulence and buoyancy.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Development and Application of an Optoelectronic Sensor for Flame Monitoring of a Copper Concentrate Flash Burner

open access: yesSensors
A flash smelting furnace operation is based on the exothermic reduction of copper concentrates in the combustion shaft, and these reactions occur at high temperatures (1250–1350 °C), where flame control is fundamental to optimizing copper reduction ...

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

Experimental study of coupling characteristics between flame dynamics and CO emissions using wavelength modulation spectroscopy

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
The coupled characteristics of flame dynamics and emissions in energy systems are critical for understanding combustion instability mechanisms and implementing effective emission control, necessitating high temporal-resolution optical diagnostic methods ...

Nonlinear equation for curved stationary flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A nonlinear equation describing curved stationary flames with arbitrary gas expansion $\theta = \rho_{{\rm fuel}}/\rho_{{\rm burnt}}$, subject to the Landau-Darrieus instability, is obtained in a closed form without an assumption of weak nonlinearity. It

From Single Atoms to Nanoparticles: Pathways Toward Efficient and Durable Pt/TiO2 Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Platinum single atoms on TiO2 nanosheets evolve into clusters and nanoparticles under ethanol photoreforming and thermal treatments. By controlling deposition and post‐treatments, particle size and location on specific facets are modulated. The study reveals how stability pathways determine efficiency, guiding the design of more durable photocatalysts.
