Thermal-diffusional Instability in White Dwarf Flames: Regimes of Flame Pulsation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2017
Abstract Thermal-diffusional pulsation behaviors in planar as well as outwardly and inwardly propagating white dwarf (WD) carbon flames are systematically studied. In the 1D numerical simulation, the asymptotic degenerate equation of state and simplified one-step reaction rates for nuclear reactions are used to study the flame ...

TWO-DIMENSIONAL FLAME INSTABILITY AND CONTROL OF BURNING IN THE HAlF-OPEN FIRECHAMBER

open access: yesАвтоматизация технологических и бизнес-процессов, 2016
The flame stability with regard to two-dimensional exponential perturbations both for the combustion in the half-open fire-chamber and the flame propagating in half-open channels is investigated.

Interaction of the combustion front of methane-air mixture at low pressures with obstacles of cylindrical shape

open access: yesFirePhysChem, 2021
It was experimentally observed that the front of a propagating flame of a well-mixed diluted methane-oxygen mixture at 298 K and 100–300 Torr does not form von Karman vortex shedding behind the obstacle of cylindrical shape of 30–50 mm in diameter ...

Instability in a flame ball problem

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems - B, 2007
In this paper we give a rigorous mathematical proof of the instability of stationary radial flame ball solutions of a three dimensional free boundary model which models the combustion of a gaseous mixture with dust in a microgravity environment.

Towards detailed combustion characteristics and linear stability analysis of premixed ammonia‒hydrogen‒air mixtures

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
In this study, premixed ammonia‒hydrogen‒air mixtures at different pressures (50∼300 kPa), equivalence ratios (0.7∼1.5), and hydrogen concentrations (9∼50.00 %) were centrally ignited in a closed vessel, and the propagation of a spherical flame was ...

Study of burner geometry effects on non-premixed flame response under acoustic excitation

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2019
The study of the flame under the acoustic excitation contributes to the study of flame self-excited thermoacoustic instability. Although non-premixed combustion is widely used in industry, research on its combustion instability characteristics is ...

Laminar Flame Characteristics of 2,5-Dimethylfuran (DMF) Biofuel: A Comparative Review with Ethanol and Gasoline

open access: yesInternational Journal of Renewable Energy Development, 2022
Since the early years of the 21st century, the whole world has faced two very urgent problems: the depletion of fossil energy sources and climate change due to environmental pollution.

Supersonic combustion instability in a hydrogen-fueled strut-based scramjet combustor

open access: yesKongqi donglixue xuebao
Combustion instability is a critical issue limiting the performance and reliability of hypersonic propulsion systems. In this study, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) were employed to ...

Experimental investigation of flame instability in a premixed combustor

open access: yesFuel, 2020
Abstract In this study; effects of fuel composition, equivalence ratio and swirl number on flame behavior (dynamic and static) of premixed 100% CNG, CNG-H2, CNG-H2-CO and CNG-H2-CO2-CO mixtures under externally altered acoustic conditions were experimentally investigated in a laboratory scale swirl stabilized combustor. During experiments, the amount

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.
