Ignition and flame sptead in laminar mixing layers [PDF]
In order to identify some of the mathematical problems encoun-tered in analyzing the ignition and ñame spread in mixing layéis, \ve shall describe the structure of the laminar mixing layer between two parallel streams of a fu el and air, initially ...

Agricultural Injuries With Dementia: Double Whammy?
ABSTRACT Background Nearly 40% of US farmers are over 65 years old. Some emerging evidence links agricultural occupational exposure to increased dementia risk. However, little is known about dementia and injury outcomes in agricultural settings. Methods We employed data from the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Programs Participant Use File (

Embedding Chemistry and Pharmacy Into Sustainability
Chemistry and pharmacy provide products and processes that are indispensable for our high living standard. To understand their relationship with sustainability is important to allow them to contribute to sustainability in a sustainable manner. An integrated overview of green, circular, and sustainable chemistry and pharmacy is given and how they have t

Incorporating finite-rate chemistry effects in analytical model of counterflow flame spread
Abstract Classical thermal theory of steady counterflow flame propagation is extended by allowing for the finite-rate of the heat release in the flame edge and by introducing the dependence of the flame edge temperature on the opposed flow velocity.

ABSTRACT In oil‐in‐water emulsions, lipid oxidation begins at the interface between the two phases. One strategy to slow down this process is to place antioxidants at the interface, where they can directly block oxidative reactions. This study explored that idea by conjugating soluble faba bean protein with tannic acid using the free‐radical grafting ...

Contributions of Microgravity Test Results to the Design of Spacecraft Fire Safety Systems [PDF]
Experiments conducted in spacecraft and drop towers show that thin-sheet materials have reduced flammability ranges and flame-spread rates under quiescent low-gravity environments (microgravity) as compared to normal gravity.

Flame structure and flame spread rate over a solid fuel in partially premixed atmospheres
We have investigated the downward flame spread over a thin solid fuel. Hydrogen, methane, or propane, included in the gaseous product of pyrolysis reaction, is added in the ambient air. The fuel concentration is kept below the lean flammability limit to observe the partially premixing effect. Both experimental and numerical studies have been conducted.
