Abstract Oxidation of furfural (FF), a bio‐based platform chemical, was investigated using a range of iron‐, vanadium‐ and iron–zinc‐oxalates supported on silica gel (FeVOx@silica and FeZnOx@silica, respectively) as precursor for FeV@silica and FeZn@silica oxide catalysts and H2O2 as a green oxidant.

Abstract Anaerobic digestion can be an alternative method for treating wastewater from second‐generation biorefineries while simultaneously producing biogas. However, the feasibility of the process and key operational parameters by which wastewater produced in lignocellulosic biorefineries affects reactor performance remain poorly understood.

Possible therapeutic repositioning of valproic acid: From epileptic seizures to acute kidney injury
Valproic acid, an anticonvulsant, may be repositioned to prevent acute kidney injury due to ischemia followed by reperfusion. It preserves renal functions, electrolyte homeostasis and active sodium transport in kidney tubules, and blocks the onset of hypertension.
