Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

The nonholonomic Riemann and Weyl tensors for flag manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
On any manifold, any non-degenerate symmetric 2-form (metric) and any skew-symmetric (differential) form W can be reduced to a canonical form at any point, but not in any neighborhood: the respective obstructions being the Riemannian tensor and dW.

Stationary solutions and asymptotic flatness I

open access: yes, 2013
In this article and its sequel we discuss the asymptotic structure of space-times representing isolated bodies in General Relativity. Such space-times are usually required to be asymptotically flat (AF), and thus to have a prescribed type of asymptotic ...

Flat connections from flat gerbes [PDF]

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, 2002
We discuss some aspects of heterotic-Type I duality. We focus on toroidal compactification, with special attention for the topology of the gauge group, and the topology of the bundle. We review the arguments leading to a classification of Spin(32)/Z_2-bundles over tori, suitable for string compactifications.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Theoretical Study of Asymmetric Bending Force on Metal Deformation in Cold Rolling

open access: yesMetals
A three-dimensional elastic–plastic finite element model of a six-roll cold rolling mill has been developed using the finite element software ABAQUS. The actual parameters of the rolling mill have been incorporated into the finite element model, with the

Experimental Study on Surface Roughness and Flatness in Lapping of AISI 52100 Steel [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2016
Lapping is one of the most important polishing processes which can be used to fabricate flat and smooth surfaces. In this paper, the effect of lapping characteristics and mesh number of abrasive particles are studied on the surface roughness and flatness

On Asymptotic Flatness and Lorentz Charges

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we establish two results concerning four-dimensional asymptotically flat spacetimes at spatial infinity. First, we show that the six conserved Lorentz charges are encoded in two unique, distinct, but mutually dual symmetric divergence free ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.
