Simultaneous voltammetric determination of flavouring substances in Christmas spices

open access: yes, 2023
A new electroanalytical method for the simultaneous determination of flavouring substances has been developed when utilising anodic oxidation of eugenol, myristicin, and anethole in an acidic medium in combination with square-wave voltammetry and the ...

A Rare Allele of ST5 From Wild Rice Enhances Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel salt‐tolerance gene ST5W, characterized by a unique 36‐bp promoter insertion, is found exclusively in a small subset of Oryza rufipogon and is absent in cultivated rice. Field trials confirm ST5W significantly enhances rice yield across diverse genetic backgrounds under saline conditions.

Photonic Time Crystals and Time‐Varying Electromagnetic Metamatter: A New Direction for Ultrafast Tunable Photonic and Microwave Materials and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Assessment of the feed additive neohesperidine dihydrochalcone for piglets, pigs for fattening, calves, sheep, fish and dogs for the renewal of its authorisation (HealthTech Bio Actives S.L.U.)

open access: yesEFSA Journal
Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the assessment of the application for the renewal of the authorisation of neohesperidine dihydrochalcone as a sensory feed additive for piglets and pigs ...

eQTL Meta‐Analysis Reveals Conserved and Population‐Specific Regulatory Variation Underlying Nutritional Trait Evolution and Domestication in Tomato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A comprehensive meta‐analysis of expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs) across five diverse tomato populations reveals a high‐resolution atlas of transcriptional regulation and uncovers conserved and population‐specific regulatory architectures underlying fruit nutritional quality traits, including flavonoids, sugars, organic acids, carotenoids ...

Scientific Opinion on Flavouring Group Evaluation 69, Revision 1 (FGE.69Rev1): consideration of aromatic substituted secondary alcohols, ketones and related esters evaluated by JECFA (57th meeting), structurally related to aromatic ketones from chemical group 21 evaluated by EFSA in FGE.16Rev2

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2020
The EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Flavourings was requested to evaluate 35 flavouring substances attributed to the Flavouring Group Evaluation 69 (FGE.69), using the Procedure as outlined in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000.

Commercial hickory-smoke flavouring is a human lymphoblast mutagen but does not induce lung adenomas in newborn mice

open access: yes, 1987
Commercial aqueous wood-smoke flavouring induced significant increases in the 6-thioguanine resistance mutation frequency of TK6 human lymphoblasts at 0.1 μl flavouring/ml of cell suspension.

Integration of Spatiotemporal Multi‐Omics in Peach Fruit Unravels a Metabolic Niche and the Genetic Basis of Trichome‐Mediated Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the first spatiotemporal multi‐omics map of peach fruit and discovered a key candidate gene that synergistically regulates trichome development and drought tolerance through the jasmonic acid signaling pathway, providing insights into the coupling mechanism between development and stress resistance.
