The Effects of Canning on the In Vitro Solubility of Phosphorus in Pet Food

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excess phosphate (P) intake through inorganic P (Pi) addition is known to cause various adverse health effects while declaration of use and amount in pet food in the EU is not regulated. Distinction between organic phosphate (oP) from feed ingredients and Pi with standard laboratory methods is impossible.

Flaxseed oil supplementation on severity of depression and brain-derived neurotrophic factor: a randomized, double blind placebo controlled clinical trial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2020
Emerging clinical studies suggest that flaxseed oil may be an effective intervention for the management of depression. The current trial was conducted to assess the effect of flaxseed oil supplementation on the Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF ...

Hemp seed counting and morphometric analysis method comparison

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract The USDA ARS Hemp Germplasm Laboratory recently acquired over 800 hemp accessions (Cannabis sativa L.). Variation in hemp seed size characteristics is needed to develop quantitative standards to support the transition of hemp grain into a commodity.

Utilization of n-3 Plant Oils Perilla and Flaxseed Oils

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1991
Perilla and flaxseed oils (n-3 family) have many beneficial effects as compared to common n-6 family oils. Based on the results of animal test, physiological functions of these oils are reviewed. While these oils suppressed the development of cancer, thrombosis and allergic reaction, they enhanced the activity of brain and nerve systems.

Biocatalytic Epoxidation Pathway of Oils in Sponge‐Like Ionic Liquids Toward CO2‐Derived Cyclic Carbonate Synthesis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
A sustainable chemo‐enzymatic synthesis of poly(cyclic carbonate)s from CO2 and renewable oils is reported for the first time using sponge‐like ionic liquids as reaction media by two sequential steps: epoxidation and CO2 cycloaddition. A sustainable chemo‐enzymatic synthesis of poly(cyclic carbonate)s from CO2 and renewable oils is reported for the ...

Creating Cell‐Based Hybrid Noodles for Sustainable and Nutrient‐Balanced Diets via a Serum‐Free and Animal‐Free 3D Co‐Differentiation System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 March 2026.
This study develops a 3D co‐culture and co‐differentiation system for porcine muscle stem cells (pMuSCs) and mesenchymal stem cells (pMSCs) on edible starch‐based scaffolds. The system simultaneously generates myotubes and adipocytes without using serum or chemical inducers.

Enhancing camelina [Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz] productivity in acidic Ethiopian soils: Synergistic effects of coffee husk biochar and phosphorus

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Acidic soils in Ethiopia's Hadiya Zone limit crop production through aluminum toxicity and phosphorus (P) fixation, which constrain camelina potential. Though drought tolerant, camelina needs sufficient P. Triple superphosphate (TSP) often becomes ineffective because P is rapidly fixed; coffee husk biochar may reduce fixation and improve P ...
