Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

GENETIC ADVANCE BY PARTICIPATORY MASS SELECTION IN PIPIANA SQUASH (Cucurbita argyrosperma Huber var. stenosperma)

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2018
The present work was carried out in Achichipico, Morelos, with the purpose of evaluating the genetic advance of in situ participatory mass selection in a local population of pipiana squash (Cucurbita argyrosperma Huber var.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Effect of Different Quick-freezing Temperatures on Quality Characteristics and Microstructure of Zigui Navel Orange Fruit Tissue

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In this study, in order to improve the quality of quick-frozen Zigui navel oranges, they were processed at varying quick-freezing temperatures (−20, −30, −40, −50, −60, −70 and −80 ℃).

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Fasciocutaneous flap by soft flesh losses. Case Presentation

open access: yesRevista Habanera de Ciencias Médicas, 2017
Introduction: Soft flesh losses is one of the most frequent consult’s reasons in traumatology’s emergency wards. Soft flesh is the area of the finger with higher density of sensorial endings, which constitute the first link between our central nervous ...
