Extraction of an intrapleural foreign body with a flexible endoscope
A polyethylene catheter inadvertently sheared off during a diagnostic thoracentesis was successfully extracted with a flexible endoscope. Coincidentally, excellent visualization of the entire pleural space was noted. The procedure was performed with the patient under general anesthesia and sterile technique was employed.
