Flight testing a modern flight control system

1997 World Aviation Congress, 1997
<div class="htmlview paragraph">With the increasing complexity of modern combat aircraft flight control systems, the flight trials phase of an aircraft development programme has become much more of an aircraft and systems model validaition exercise.

Developmetn of an optimum flight control system

TENCON '91. Region 10 International Conference on EC3-Energy, Computer, Communication and Control Systems, 2005
This paper presents optimum AutoPilot Designs for bank-to-turn CLOS (BTT) guidance. BTT is capable of producing higher lift-to-drag ratio. Linear quadratic optimal technique is used in this paper for the design of the roll and pitch autopilot. Simulation results have demonstrated the improvements in control with the linear quadratic optimal design.

Optimization of the Flight-Control, Airframe System

Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1960
The analysis of a system composed of a flight control and an airframe is ordinarily accomplished by using servoanalysis techniques in which the airframe and controller are described in terms of transfer functions. Optimization of such a system at the analytical level involves the selection of desirable relative locations for the poles and zeros of the ...

An experimental digital flight control system

Proceedings of the February 11-12, 1954, western computer conference: Trends in computers: automatic control and data processing on - AIEE-IRE '53 (Western), 1954
Development of aircraft with large ranges in speed and altitude has resulted in a need for autopilot systems with optimum control characteristics over a wide range of conditions and with very high accuracy and resolution. In designing a digital flight controller to pilot a highly maneuverable aircraft whose flight conditions are constantly changing, an

A flight control system for microgravity experiments

[Proceedings 1992] The First IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2003
A flight control system which is capable of reproducing a microgravity environment within a commercial aircraft by forcing it to follow the dynamic behavior of a mass launched in the vacuum is studied. The control problem is formulated as a variational problem and an efficient numerical procedure for the online solution of the problem is given.

Flight Tests of a Microprocessor Control System

Journal of Guidance and Control, 1979
Flight experiments with a microprocessor control system have been conducted. The purposes of these tests were to provide information which will assist the development of flying qualities criteria for digital control systems and to investigate engineering characteristics of the research system.
