The role of cone volatiles and thermogenesis in the pollination of Encephalartos cycads with particular reference to E.villosus

open access: yes, 2011
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references.Pollination systems of cycads usually involve obligate mutualisms in which the cycad taxa depend on between one and three insect pollinators.

Recent Advances in Pickering Emulsion Templated Phase Change Material Microcapsules: Design, Fabrication, and Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fabrication process of phase change microcapsules using a Pickering emulsion template method and their subsequent applications. The increasing demand for efficient thermal energy storage systems has driven the development of phase change material microcapsules (PCMMs), which provide high energy‐storage density, reversible phase change, and reduced ...

Epoxidation of Cashmeran and Unprecedented Rearrangement to an α‐Carbonyl δ‐Spirolactone

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A new strategy enables diastereoselective conversion of Cashmeran into a previously unknown α‐carbonyl δ‐spirolactone via epoxidation, Baeyer–Villiger oxidation, and acid‐catalyzed rearrangement. Structure and mechanism were confirmed by NMR, single crystal X‐ray diffraction, and computational studies. We report the epoxidation of Cashmeran followed by

Hydrogel Adhesives for Gastrointestinal Perforation: Design Principles and Applications

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
There are few reviews on hydrogel adhesives that comprehensively highlight the design principles, factors affecting adhesion, and applications for gastrointestinal (GI) perforation repair. This review outlines the mainstream design approaches of hydrogel adhesives via covalent and noncovalent molecular interactions, illustrating the underlying adhesive

Recent Progress on Graphitic Carbon Nitride–Based Photocatalysts for Hydrogen Peroxide Synthesis

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent progress in using graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) photocatalysts to produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). It highlights how solar energy can cleanly convert water and oxygen into this valuable chemical. We discuss key modification strategies, such as defect engineering, doping, and junction construction, to enhance ...

Temporal, Developmental, and Comparative Characterization of the Floral Volatile Emissions of the Famously Scented Violet Species, Viola odorata

open access: yesHortScience
Violets (Viola) are potential candidates for aroma-focused breeding research. Though most Viola species and modern hybrids lack fragrance, the genus contains a famously scented species, Viola odorata L.

Characterization of Cantaloupe, Grape, Pumpkin, and Tomato Seed Oils From Xinjiang: Oxidative Stability, Volatile‐Compound Analysis, and Sensory Evaluation

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
This study compares oxidative stability, fatty acid profiles, volatile compounds, and sensory attributes of four Xinjiang seed oils. Distinct aldehyde‐driven aroma patterns and compositional differences were revealed, providing a scientific basis for quality evaluation and valorization of underutilized plant seed oils in food applications.

Optimising the Eco‐Friendly Extraction of Carotenoids From Gac Fruit: A Sustainable Solution for Natural Red Food Colourants

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Gac fruit's high carotenoid content, especially in the aril, makes it an excellent natural red pigment source for food applications, offering a safer alternative to synthetic dyes. Ethanol extraction achieved the highest overall pigment recovery (89.53%), whereas ethyl lactate extraction yielded the highest levels of total carotenoids, β‐carotene ...
