Transport characteristics and blockage mechanism of fractured rock mass during water inrush process in roadway

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Mine water inrush and collapse accidents are among the most destructive geological disasters, where the movement and deposition behavior of solid–fluid two-phase flows directly determine the scale of disaster evolution and the difficulty of mitigation ...

Neuro-flow Dynamics and the Learning Processes

open access: yes, 1997
A new description of the neural activity is introduced by the neuro-flow dynamics and the extended Hebb rule. The remarkable characteristics of the neuro-flow dynamics, such as the primacy and the recency effect during awakeness or sleep, are pointed out.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Numerical Study on Flow Characteristics of the Slurry-Feeding System in a Hydrojet Shield

open access: yesFluids
The hydrojet-shield machine, a rapidly advancing shield machine type, uses slurry for excavation and muck removal via a pipeline system. The pipeline includes a flushed feeding system that injects slurry into areas at risk of obstruction.

Shear flow of angular grains: acoustic effects and non-monotonic rate dependence of volume

open access: yes, 2014
Naturally-occurring granular materials often consist of angular particles whose shape and frictional characteristics may have important implications on macroscopic flow rheology. In this paper, we provide a theoretical account for the peculiar phenomenon

Flow characteristics of carbon fibre moulding compounds

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents the development of a low-cost carbon fibre moulding compound using an automated spray deposition process. Directed Fibre Compounding (DFC) is used to produce charge packs directly from low cost carbon fibre tows and liquid epoxy resin.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
