Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Post-processing methods of PIV instantaneous flow fields for unsteady flows in turbomachines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Particle Image Velocimetry is undoubtedly one of the most important technique in Fluid-dynamics since it allows to obtain a direct and instantaneous visualization of the flow field in a non-intrusive way.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Effects of Non-Uniform Center-Flow Distribution and Cavitation on Continuous-Type Pintle Injectors

open access: yesAerospace
In this paper, the flow characteristics of a continuous-type liquid–liquid pintle injector are described, focusing on the differential impact of a non-uniform center-flow distribution on single- and bi-injection methodologies as well as the cavitation ...

Vertical upward flow patterns in small diameter tubes

open access: yes, 2005
Two-phase flow patterns were studied in vertical small diameter tubes using R134a as the working fluid. The observed flow patterns include bubbly, dispersed bubble, confined bubble, slug, churn, annular and mist flow.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A study of unsteady flow wave attenuation in partially filled pipe networks

open access: yes, 1984
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. The attenuation of unsteady flow in building drainage systems must be fully considered if water conservation proposals involving changes in flush volume or

Modelling of transient gas-liquid flow and pigging in pipes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
More and more transient gas-liquid operations in pipes are being successfully applied in the oil and gas industry. Pigging in two-phase pipelines, to remove liquid accumulation or for cleaning purposes, is an important transient operation.
