Special issue in flow chemistry [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Diversity, 2011
In the last decade, we havewitnessed a steady transformation of organic chemistry. The number of launched new chemical entities decreased in spite of the number of synthetically accessible small molecules that exponentially increased. On the other hand, the drug like chemical space was only poorly sampled and the huge compound decks at Big Pharma ...

The Development of High Order Numerical Techniques for Reentry Simulation of Hypersonic Spacecraft [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The primary difficulty encountered when simulating hypersonic flow is that the flow normally includes strong nonlinear discontinuities. These discontinuities fall into three broad classes: shocks, slip-lines, and rarefaction waves.

Influence of the meandering channel geometry on the thermo-hydraulic performances of an intensified heatexchanger/reactor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the global context of process intensification, heat exchanger/reactors are promising apparatuses to implement exothermic chemical syntheses. However, unlike heat exchange processes, the implementation of chemical syntheses requires to control the ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Deoxygenative photochemical alkylation of secondary amides enables a streamlined synthesis of substituted amines

open access: yesNature Communications
Secondary amines are vital functional groups in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products, necessitating efficient synthetic methods. Traditional approaches, including N-monoalkylation and reductive amination, suffer from limitations such as ...

Photocatalytic trifluoromethoxylation of arenes and heteroarenes in continuous-flow

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2020
The first example of photocatalytic trifluoromethoxylation of arenes and heteroarenes under continuous-flow conditions is described. Application of continuous-flow microreactor technology allowed to reduce the residence time up to 16 times in comparison ...

A sustainable strategy for the straightforward preparation of 2H-azirines and highly functionalized NH-aziridines from vinyl azides using a single solvent flow-batch approach

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2021
The reported flow-batch approach enables the easy preparation of 2H-azirines and their stereoselective transformation into highly functionalized NH-aziridines, starting from vinyl azides and organolithium compounds.

Non-thermal plasma technology for the abatement of NOx and SOx from the exhaust of marine diesel engine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Non-thermal plasma based technology is proposed to the abatement of NOx and SOx of the exhaust gas from marine diesel engine. Proposed technology uses electron gun and microwave energy to generate the plasma.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Numerical simulations of hydrogen auto-ignition in a turbulent co-flow of heated air [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Our research objective is the performance of Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) with the first order Conditional Moment Closure (CMC) of the test case experimentally studied by Markides and Mastorakos [1].
