Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

An improved turbulent boundary layer inflow condition, applied to the simulation of jets in cross-flow [PDF]

open access: yes
The jet acting perpendicular to a cross-flow boundary layer is a commonly studied complex turbulent flow. Our research was motivated by their potential application in separation delay devices, where jets can be used to produce streamwise vortices in a ...

Experimental investigation of unsteadiness in transonic shock boundary layer interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Transonic shock wave/boundary layer interaction over a wall-mounted bump was investigated with specific focus on shock wave unsteadiness and identification of its source. A large separation bubble resulted of an interaction driven by a flow characterized

Protein separation using free-flow electrophoresis microchip etched in a single step

open access: yes, 2010
A one-step etching method was developed to fabricate glass free-flow electrophoresis microchips with a rectangle separation microchamber (42 mm-long, 23 mm-wide and 28 mu m-deep), in which two glass bridges (0.5 mm-wide) were made simultaneously to ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

CFD Instraction Guide to Simulate Two-Phase Flow Separation in A Vertical T-Junction Separator

open access: yes, 2019
Two-phase flow separation has been investigated by many researchers due to its important role in the most industrial applications. In refrigeration and air conditioning systems, two-phase flow separation influence the system performance.

The control of trailing edge separation on highly swept wings using vortex generators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The results from a series of low speed wind tunnel tests on two half model highly swept wings (a symmetrical aerofoil section and a highly cambered aerofail section) are presented in order to examine the trailing edge flow separation mechanism and its
