Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The impact of water flow rate on the dynamic dissolution kinetics of fractured limestone formations

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
To break through the lithological constraints on the surrounding rock for the construction of underground water-sealed oil storage caverns, and considering limestone as a potential host rock for such caverns, the dynamic evolution law of fracture ...

Blood flow velocity quantification using split-spectrum amplitude-decorrelation angiography with optical coherence tomography.

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2013
The split-spectrum amplitude-decorrelation angiography (SSADA) algorithm was recently developed as a method for imaging blood flow in the human retina without the use of phase information.

Prediction of aerodynamic flow fields using convolutional neural networks [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Mechanics, 2019
An approximation model based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is proposed for flow field predictions. The CNN is used to predict the velocity and pressure field in unseen flow conditions and geometries given the pixelated shape of the object.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Force-velocity correlations in a dense, collisional, granular flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report measurements in a 2-dimensional, gravity-driven, collisional, granular flow of the normal force delivered to the wall and of particle velocity at several points in the flow. The wall force and the flow velocity are negatively correlated.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Aerodynamic Characteristics of High-speed Train Pantographs Based on Jet Flow Control [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The pantograph is a critical instrument that significantly affects the aerodynamics of high-speed trains, posing a considerable challenge to the energy conservation and environmental protection of trains.

An approach of flow velocity measurement on microfluidic chip by near-field scanning microwave microscopy

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
A novel approach for flow velocity measurements on a microfluidic chip using near-field scanning microwave microscopy (NSMM) is proposed. It does not require the tested sample to contain visible particles, as the intrinsic electromagnetic properties of ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
