The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Numerical Simulation of a Submerged Floating Tunnel: Validation and Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The dynamic response analysis of submerged floating tunnels (SFTs) under seismic action is a complex two-way fluid–structure coupling problem that requires expertise in structural dynamics, fluid mechanics, and advanced computational methods. The coupled

Numerical simulation of air arc impinging to chamber shell with multi-physical coupling method of fluid-thermal-structure

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
The air arc impinging to chamber shell during interruption current process were studied by experiments and numerical simulation. Firstly, strain characteristics of chamber shell were measured by the strain gauge, and the strain changing with times were ...

Computational evaluation of flight performance of flapping-wing nano air vehicles using hierarchical coupling of nonlinear dynamic and fluid-structure interaction analyses

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2023
This study endeavours to introduce an inventive hierarchical coupling methodology for evaluating the flight capabilities of polymer micromachined flapping-wing nano air vehicles (FWNAVs) using advanced computational tools.

Nonlinear Dynamical Analysis for Coupled Fluid-Structure Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
The present research concerns the numerical dynamical analysis in elasto-acoustics, taking into account the geometrical non-linearities induced by the large displacements/deformations of the structure and assuming the internal acoustic fluid occupying an internal cavity coupled to the structure to remain in a linear range of vibration.

Performance Optimization of Interacting Sails Through Fluid Structure Coupling

open access: yesInnovation in High Performance Sailing Yachts 2010, 2010
In this paper, the problem of sailing yacht rig design has been addressed through the development of a computational framework based on viscous Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modelling for the aerodynamic part and on a non linear structural modelling for the structure part. The Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) coupling used is a loose coupling. The

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Strong coupling for fluid structure interaction problems

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Computational Mechanics, 2007
The computation of fluid forces acting on a rigid or deformable structure constitutes a major problem in fluid structure interaction. However, the majority of numerical tests consists in using two different codes to separately solve pressure of the fluid and structural displacements.
