Computer program for analysis of split-Stirling-cycle cryogenic coolers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
A computer program for predicting the detailed thermodynamic performance of split-Stirling-cycle refrigerators has been developed. The mathematical model includes the refrigerator cold head, free-displacer/regenerator, gas transfer line, and provision ...

The Effect of Temperature Field on Low Amplitude Oscillatory Flow within a Parallel-Plate Heat Exchanger in a Standing Wave Thermoacoustic System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Thermoacoustic technologies rely on a direct power conversion between acoustic and thermal energies using well known thermoacoustic effects. The presence of the acoustic field leads to oscillatory heat transfer and fluid flow processes within the ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Enhancing transport processes in stratified fluids: Exploring rotational and stretching effects coupled with magnetic fields, heat, mass transfer and thermal/solutal slip

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
This research paper presents an in-depth investigation into the complex interactions governing stratified fluid flow in the presence of rotational and stretching phenomena, magnetic field influences, heat and mass transfer effects, and the incorporation ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Numerical investigation of heat transfer enhancement of nanofluids in an inclined lid-driven triangular enclosure. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The behavior of nanofluids is investigated numerically in an inclined lid-driven triangular enclosure to gain insight into convective recirculation and flow processes induced by a nanofluid.

Advances in mass transfer and fluid flows in non-thermal food processing industry – a review

open access: yesFood Production, Processing and Nutrition, 2023
AbstractAll around the world, food processing techniques make use of various kinds of treatments to improve the shelf-life of foods. The commonly used thermal treatments are likely to result in deteriorating the sensory as well as nutritional qualities of foods.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
