pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

A thermo-fluid model for protective suiting used in fusion reactor shutdown operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we report a method of modelling the overall thermo-fluid processes which occur in protective suiting as used in the Joint European Torus (JET) fusion reactor at Culham, UK.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Numerical investigation on the evaporation of droplets depositing on heated surfaces at low Weber numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The evaporation of water droplets, impinging with low Weber number and gently depositing on heated surfaces of stainless steel is studied numerically using a combination of fluid flow and heat transfer models. The coupled problem of heat transfer between

Fluid flow and heat transfer in the transition process of natural convection over an inclined plate

open access: yesHeat Transfer—Asian Research, 2000
AbstractThe present study deals with fluid flow and heat transfer in the transition process of natural convection over an inclined plate. In order to examine the mechanism of the transition process, experiments on the flow and heat transfer were performed for various plate inclination angles in the range of 20 to 75°.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Study of velocity and temperature distributions in boundary layer flow of fourth grade fluid over an exponential stretching sheet

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
This study deals with the investigation of boundary layer flow of a fourth grade fluid and heat transfer over an exponential stretching sheet. For analyzing two heating processes, namely, (i) prescribed surface temperature (PST), and (ii) prescribed heat

Effects of Suction and Freestream Velocity on a Hydromagnetic Stagnation-Point Flow and Heat Transport in a Newtonian Fluid Toward a Stretching Sheet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Forced flow of an electrically conducting Newtonian fluid due to an exponentially stretching sheet is studied numerically. Free stream velocity is present and so is suction at the sheet. The governing coupled, nonlinear, partial differential equations of
