Palladium-Catalysed Coupling and Acid-Mediated Cyclisation: Synthesis of Fluorenones and Fluorenes
Palladium-catalysed sequential one-pot synthesis of fluorenones is described. The reaction comprises intermolecular Suzuki coupling and intramolecular acid-mediated cyclisation in a one-pot procedure.

9-Chloromethyl-9-[(9H-fluoren-9-yl)methyl]-9H-fluorene [PDF]
In the title compound, C(28)H(21)Cl, the dihedral angle between the two fluorene ring systems is 71.97 (4)°. There is an intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure, the centroid-to-centroid distance between stacked fluorene ring systems is ca 4.22 Å, which indicates that there are no π-π stacking inter-actions between them.

Dispiro[fluorene-9,5′-[1,2,3,4]tetrathiane-6′,9′′-fluorene] [PDF]
The tetrathiane ring of the title compound, C26H16S4, has a chair conformation and the molecule has approximate C2 symmetry. Each of the two fluorene ring systems is virtually planar, with the ring planes intersecting at an angle of 67.58 (5) degrees. This novel compound has been formed as a side product from the treatment of 9H-fluorene-9-thione with ...

Unsymmetrically disubstituted antiaromatic indenofluorene (IF), in comparison to aromatic pentacene counterpart with unsymmetrical disubstitution, was rare in the literature until our recent report on indeno[1,2-b]fluorene and indeno[2,1-a]fluorene ...

Induction of Cytokinin-Independent Tobacco Tissues by Substituted Fluorenes [PDF]
Two morphactins and three aminofluorenes initiated the formation of compact tissue nodules in hormone-dependent tobacco callus cultures. These nodules, upon subculture, behaved like partially transformed plant tumors.

The Role of Torsional Dynamics on Hole and Exciton Stabilization in π‐Stacked Assemblies: Design of Rigid Torsionomers of a Cofacial Bifluorene [PDF]
Exciton and charge delocalization across π‐stacked assemblies is of importance in biological systems and functional polymeric materials. To examine the requirements for exciton and hole stabilization, cofacial bifluorene (F2) torsionomers were designed ...
