Rapid laboratory diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mycobacteriology, 2017
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) ranks as the second leading cause of death from an infectious disease worldwide. Early diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in clinical samples becomes important in the control of TB both for the treatment of patients and

Repurposing a Small Molecule Plant Hormone as a Tunable ON‐Switch for CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering a receptor system integrating the plant auxin receptor AFB1 with its co‐receptor IAA7, we enable ligand‐dependent interactions triggered by the plant hormone auxins. This design allows rapid, reversible, and dose‐dependent T cell activation, resulting in potent cytotoxicity against B‐cell lymphoma in vitro and in vivo.

circZNF148 Drives Glucose Metabolism Reprogramming to Enhance Metastasis and Immune Evasion via HK1 Stabilization in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CircZNF148 stabilizes HK1 through deubiquitinase recruitment, thereby enhancing glycolysis and lactate production. Elevated lactate promotes PD‑L1 lactylation and membrane accumulation while suppressing CD8+ T‐cell cytotoxicity, collectively facilitating immune evasion and malignant progression in TNBC.

Inorganic Nanomaterials can Promote or Inhibit Tumor Metastasis Depending on Tumor Microenvironment Composition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As engineered nanomaterials gain prominence in cancer imaging and therapy, understanding their impact on tumor progression becomes increasingly critical. We demonstrate that gold and silica‐coated gold nanomaterials can either suppress or enhance breast cancer metastasis through distinct tumor microenvironment interactions, while identifying ...

Assessment of Damage to Nucleic Acids and Repair Machinery in Salmonella typhimurium Exposed to Chlorine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, 2009
Water disinfection is usually evaluated using mandatory methods based on cell culturability. However, such methods do not consider the potential of cells to recover, which should also be kept as low as possible.

EFFICACY OF FLUOROCHROME STAIN IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS CO-INFECTED WITH HIV

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2005
The resurgence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in association with HIV infection has focussed much attention in the rapid diagnosis of high risk cases. Infection with HIV is known to alter the presentation of pulmonary tuberculosis. The present study was under taken to compare the efficacy of fluorochrome stain (Fl) with conventional Ziehl Neelsen (ZN ...

CHST1 Drives Immunotherapy Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer by Orchestrating an Immunosuppressive Microenvironment via the NKRF–CCL20–Macrophage Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Proposed model of CHST1‐associated immune remodeling in triple‐negative breast cancer. In CHST1‐low tumors, greater nuclear accumulation of NKRF is associated with repression of an NF‐κB‐related CCL20 transcriptional program and an immune‐inflamed microenvironment.

Intrasplenic Thymus Organogenesis from Injectable Tissue Fragments Restores Functional T‐Cell Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Clinical intramuscular thymus transplantation yields only short‐lived efficacy and marginal therapeutic benefits. Benefiting from the spleen's intrinsic strengths—rapid vascular perfusion, abundant developmental factors, and resident progenitors—the intrasplenic thymic grafts achieve robust thymic regeneration and substantial T‐cell reconstitution ...

Macrophage PABPC4‐SPP1 Axis Orchestrates Immunosuppression in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the CRC microenvironment, macrophage PABPC4 binds to the 3′UTR of SPP1 mRNA to stabilize its expression, thereby sustaining M2‐like immunosuppressive macrophage polarization. Concurrently, this axis suppresses CD8+ T cell effector functions via CD44 signaling, collectively fostering an immunosuppressive niche that drives tumor progression.

Discrepant Phenotyping of Monocytes Based on CX3CR1 and CCR2 Using Fluorescent Reporters and Antibodies

open access: yesCells
Monocytes, as well as downstream macrophages and dendritic cells, are essential players in the immune system, fulfilling key roles in homeostasis as well as in inflammatory conditions. Conventionally, driven by studies on reporter models, mouse monocytes
