Spectral Cytometry Has Unique Properties Allowing Multicolor Analysis of Cell Suspensions Isolated from Solid Tissues. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Flow cytometry, initially developed to analyze surface protein expression in hematopoietic cells, has increased in analytical complexity and is now widely used to identify cells from different tissues and organisms. As a consequence, data analysis became

Long‐Term Effects of Xenotransplantation of Human Enteric Glia in an Immunocompetent Rat Model of Acute Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Acute brain injuries are characterized by extensive tissue damage, resulting in debilitating deficits in patients. Despite considerable progress, cell‐based approaches have yet to identify an ideal candidate. This long‐term study explores the use of an untested cell source – human enteric glia – and a non‐invasive administration route – intranasal ...

Imaging DNA with Fluorochrome Bearing Metals [PDF]

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry, 2013
Molecules that fluoresce upon binding DNA are widely used in assaying and visualizing DNA in cells and tissues. However, using light to visualize DNA in animals is limited by the attenuation of light transmission by biological tissues. Moreover, it is now clear that DNA is an important mediator of dead cell clearance, coagulation reactions, and an ...

FAPα+ Macrophages Orchestrate Immune Evasion in Multiple Myeloma by Dual Regulation of PD‐L1 and T Cell Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematologic malignancy driven by clonal expansion of malignant plasma cells. Despite the long‐term disease control achieved with immunotherapies in some patients, treatment resistance remains a major cause of disease relapse.

Combination of Small Molecule Microarray and Confocal Microscopy Techniques for Live Cell Staining Fluorescent Dye Discovery

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
Discovering new fluorochromes is significantly advanced by high-throughput screening (HTS) methods. In the present study a combination of small molecule microarray (SMM) prescreening and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) was developed in order to

Elemene Augments the Effects of Anti‐PD‐1 Immunotherapy on Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Regulating the miR‐130a‐5p/SPP/MHC‐I Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Elemene increases SPP expression by competitively binding with miR‐130a‐5p to suppress SPP mRNA degradation. This led to more antigen/MHC‐I complexes being expressed on the cell surface, which consequently facilitated the recognition and killing of HCC cells by CTLs and enhancing the antitumor immune efficacy of anti‐PD‐1.

Flow Cytometry for Estimating Plant Genome Size: Revisiting Assumptions, Sources of Variation, Reference Standards, and Best Practices

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science
Flow cytometry has been widely used to estimate relative and absolute genome sizes (DNA contents) of plants for more than 50 years. However, the accuracy of these estimates can vary widely because of many factors, including errors in the genome size ...

Evidence of the differentiated structural arrangement of constitutive heterochromatin between two populations of Astyanax scabripinnis (Pisces, Characidae)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2004
The composition of heterochromatin classes along the chromosomes of specimens from two populations of the fish Astyanax scabripinnis was examined using fluorescence banding with GC- and AT-DNA specific fluorochromes and fluorescence in situ hybridization

Nanoparticle Adjuvant Design Enhances Germinal Center Responses Targeting Conserved Subdominant Epitopes for Pan‐Coronavirus Vaccine Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccines generate short‐lived, strain‐specific immunity. A polymeric TLR7 agonist nanoparticle (TLR7‐NP) adjuvant enhances lymph node targeting and promotes early and sustained germinal center responses toward conserved S2 epitopes of the spike protein.
