Polygenic risk score and prostate specific antigen predict death from prostate cancer in men with intermediate aggressive cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Using 21 SNPs, two novel PRS were constructed and used to develop two new machine‐learning classifiers, one for the detection of prostate cancer and the other for the prediction of its aggressiveness and subsequent mortality. The classifier for disease detection is built using the PRS as the sole feature, whereas the one for disease ...

Decoding temporal miRNA signatures of semen under in vitro exposure for forensic time since deposition estimation using machine learning‐driven modeling

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel miRNA‐based framework for estimating the time since deposition of semen stains, combining small RNA sequencing with machine learning. Time‐dependent miRNA modules were identified using Mfuzz clustering and WGCNA, followed by a multi‐stage feature selection pipeline that reduced 261 candidate miRNAs to a minimal 7‐miRNA panel.

Spectroscopic Study of Host-Guest Inclusion Complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A host-guest complex is formed by a host molecule encapsulating a guest molecule within it. The host materials in this study are basket-shaped structures, known as cyclodextrins, which can easily incorporate a variety of guests, such as drug molecules ...

Assessment of Potential Sources of Variability on the Analytical Performance of a Circulating Tumor DNA Minimal Residual Disease Test for B‐Cell Lymphomas

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Laboratory tests must exhibit robustness to common sources of test variability, particularly for tests with the potential to inform treatment decisions. This study presents data that shows that a phased variant enrichment and detection sequencing (PhasED‐Seq)‐based circulating tumor DNA minimal residual disease (ctDNA‐MRD) test is robust, with results ...

Fluorescence Analysis for Multi-Site Aluminum Binding to Natural Organic Matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Natural organic matter (NOM) samples isolated from different water sources in Norway were compared using their fluorescence properties. Fluorescence surfaces were observed at pH 4.36 and deconvoluted using SIMPLISMA (Windig and Guilment 1991). There were

Feasibility of Comprehensive Genomic Profiling for Biliary Tract Cancer Using Transpapillary Biopsy Samples: A Prospective Study

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, EarlyView.
Graphical summary of the study design, intervention, and outcomes. ABSTRACT Background Patients with biliary tract cancer (BTC) often have actionable mutations, and comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) plays an important role. However, the feasibility of CGP using transpapillary biopsy (TPB) samples remains unclear.

Mapping the subgingival HerBiome and HisBiome over the human healthspan

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Understanding the intricate relationship between sex, age, and the oral microbiome is crucial for deciphering the onset and progression of numerous age‐related oral and systemic diseases. Methods Subgingival plaque was collected from 781 periodontally and systemically healthy females and 160 males spanning 0 to 80 years.

Effect of saline irrigation on Tetragonia tetragonioides (Pall.) Kuntze grown on different soil types under greenhouse conditions

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Climate change and population growth are major challenges for sustainable food production, particularly in regions affected by water scarcity and soil salinization. In this context, halophytes represent promising candidates as alternative and sustainable food crops for salt‐affected areas.

Synergistic Effects of Salinization and Artificial Root Exudates on Soil Phosphatase Activity in Coastal Soil

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coastal soil salinization from rising seawater levels has adverse impacts on soil function, seed germination, and plant growth. Root exudates play a key role in supporting microbial activity, nutrient cycling, and plant health, yet little is known about the combined effects of salinization and the addition of artificial root exudates (AREs) on
