Insights Into the Mechanistic Assessment of Plasmon‐Induced Aqueous Degradation of Pharmaceuticals by TiO2/Ag Nano‐Composite

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pharmaceutical contaminants in potable water sources are ubiquitous and have resulted in lowered water quality. Thus, two common broad‐spectrum pharmaceuticals (tetracycline‐TC and ciprofloxacin‐CPF) were comparatively photo‐degraded using Ag‐doped TiO2 photocatalyst species containing Ag nanoparticles at 2.5, 5, and 7.5 wt%.

The Role of the Gut Microbiota in Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 8, Page 1980-1996, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo‐HCT) is an effective treatment for patients with high‐risk hematologic malignancies. Over the last decade, gut microbiota composition during allo‐HCT has been associated with patients' outcomes.

Global prevalence of fluoroquinolone resistance in common Campylobacter species associated with human infections

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections
Background: Fluoroquinolones have long been the primary choice in treating campylobacteriosis, yet rising resistance threatens their effectiveness. Understanding global resistance rates in common Campylobacter species is vital for guiding treatment ...

Ultra‐Sensitive Amperometric Detection of Ciprofloxacin in Environmental and Biological Matrices Using an ITO Modified With Tungsten Trioxide‐Based Nanocomposite

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Although significant progress has been achieved in the electrochemical sensing of ciprofloxacin (CIP), there remains a critical need for highly sensitive and reliable platforms capable of rapid charge transfer and accurate detection at trace levels in complex environmental and biological matrices.

On‐site pilot‐scale advanced oxidation pretreatment of hospital wastewater: assessment of pharmaceuticals, pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes and acute ecotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, Volume 101, Issue 8, Page 1478-1491, August 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hospital premises generate wastewater containing a wide spectrum of contaminants, such as pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and pathogenic microorganisms, whilst plenty of them are classified under the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ΑRΒ) category.

Seasonal Restructuring of Microbial Communities and Resistomes in the Shitalakshya River, Bangladesh Revealed by Shotgun Metagenomics

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Dry‐season pollutant concentration drives microbial restructuring in Bangladesh's Shitalakshya River, shifting communities from Myroides to stress‐tolerant genera while enriching metal resistance genes and efflux pumps, revealing non‐antibiotic co‐selection as a key driver of antimicrobial resistance in urban waters.

Promoting Sustainable Prescribing—A Case Study Presenting Experiences From Two Swedish Drug and Therapeutics Committees

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT During the past two decades, it has become evident that pharmaceuticals is an emerging environmental problem. In this study, we present the experiences from two Swedish Drug & Therapeutics Committees (DTCs) on how they integrate environmental considerations into their formularies and continuous professional education activities.

Belgian bovine veterinarians' practices and opinions on udder health‐related antimicrobial use and services

open access: yesVeterinary Record, Volume 199, Issue 1, Page e50-e65, 4/11 July 2026.
Abstract Background Changing legislation regarding antimicrobial consumption (AMC) forces Flemish bovine veterinary practitioners (BVP) to rethink their business models and shift their on‐farm practices from curative to preventive. However, little is known about their current practices and opinions regarding antibiotic stewardship, mastitis treatment ...
