System-Level Insights into Yeast Metabolism by Thermodynamic Analysis of Elementary Flux Modes
One of the most obvious phenotypes of a cell is its metabolic activity, which is defined by the fluxes in the metabolic network. Although experimental methods to determine intracellular fluxes are well established, only a limited number of fluxes can be ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Smooth flux-sheets with topological winding modes
The inclusion of the Gaussian-curvature term in the bulk of Polyakov-Kleinert string action renders new boundary terms and conditions by Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Within a leading approximation, the eigenmodes of smooth worldsheets and the free-energy of a gas of open rigid strings appears to be altered at second order in the coupling by the topological ...

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Leaky and resonantly damped flux tube modes reconsidered [PDF]
In this research note the results for the eigenfrequencies of the uniform and non-uniform magnetic flux tubes of Stenuit et al. (1998) are reconsidered.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Eigen modes of flux line lattice and the melting of Abrikosov flux lattice [PDF]
The eigen modes of the flux line lattice (FLL) are discussed under a suitable transformation of the field operators. The non-local effective Hamiltonian governing the fluctuation of the FLL can be diagonalized.

Excitation of the primary tropospheric chemical mode in a global three-dimensional model [PDF]
Coupling of local chemical processes over the globe by atmospheric transport leads to the existence of chemical modes that are a fundamental characterization of global atmospheric chemistry and provide a true description of the atmospheric response to ...
