3D modeling of a superconducting dynamo-type flux pump [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
High temperature superconducting (HTS) dynamos are promising devices that can inject large DC currents into the winding of superconducting machines or magnets in a contactless way.

Computation of Pump-Leak Flux Balance in Animal Cells [PDF]

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2014
Background/Aims: Many vital processes in animal cells depend on monovalent ion transport across the plasma membrane via specific pathways. Their operation is described by a set of nonlinear and transcendental equations that cannot be solved analytically.

Flux Pumping of Cooper Pairs Through a Josephson Energy-Suppression Pump [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2022
In this paper, we propose a novel kind of Josephson-Energy Suppression Pump (JESP) controlled by a fully magnetic flux drive. The device presented here is composed of two superconducting loops interrupted at one side by superconducting nanowires which are joined together by a superconducting island.

Superconducting flux pumps [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2019
This paper presents a perspective on flux pumps. Flux pumps are a means of providing current to a coil or a magnet without direct electrical or physical contact. Typically, a coil would be charged directly using current leads, which would then be withdrawn if the magnets operated in the persistent mode (as with magnetic resonance imaging) or left in ...

Technical note: A simple and cost-efficient automated floating chamber for continuous measurements of carbon dioxide gas flux on lakes [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2018
Freshwaters emit significant amounts of CO2 on a global scale. However, emissions remain poorly constrained from the diverse range of aquatic systems.

MOSFET-based HTS flux pump

open access: yesSuperconductor Science and Technology, 2023
Abstract We have developed a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) flux pump using high-power metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) for switching. For its primary coil, two commercial transformers are utilized, each consisting of two copper coils wound on a single iron core, which enables changing the load current

A kilo-ampere level HTS flux pump [PDF]

open access: yesSuperconductor Science and Technology, 2019
This paper reports a newly developed high current transformer-rectifier High-Tc Superconducting (HTS) flux pump switched by dynamic resistance. A quasi-persistent current of over 1.1 kA has been achieved at 77 K using the device, which is the highest reported operating current by any HTS flux pumps to date.

Temporal and regional variabilities in the attenuation of sinking particulate organic carbon in the Kuroshio region

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
The biological pump that transports carbon from the surface ocean to the ocean interior is an important determinant of ocean carbon absorption from the atmosphere, and of biological activity beneath the euphotic zone.

Investigation of nonlinear effects in Josephson parametric oscillators used in circuit quantum electrodynamics

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We experimentally study the behavior of a parametrically pumped nonlinear oscillator, which is based on a superconducting λ /4 resonator, and is terminated by a flux-tunable superconducting quantum interference device.
