ABSTRACT Background Secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) is an inflammatory mediator linked to acute chest syndrome (ACS) in sickle cell disease (SCD), a serious complication that can develop during an acute vaso‐occlusive pain episode (VOE). Plasma sPLA2 levels have been proposed as a potential biomarker for predicting ACS onset.

3-D Finite Element Model for Drum-Type HTS Dynamos
Continuous cylindrical stator high-temperature superconducting (HTS) dynamos, also known as drum-type HTS dynamos, are devices for contactless current injection, but their complex three-dimensional (3D) electromagnetic behaviour cannot be captured ...

Influence of Sediment Resuspension on the Biological Pump of the Southwestern East Sea (Japan Sea)
The biological carbon pump in the southwestern East Sea (Japan Sea, EJS hereafter) was investigated based on examination of sinking particulate matter samples intercepted by bottom-tethered sediment traps deployed on a mooring at three depths (500, 1000,

ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

An Overview of Flux Pumps for HTS Coils [PDF]
High-Tc superconducting (HTS) flux pumps are capable of injecting flux into closed HTS magnets without electrical contact. It is becoming a promising alternative of current source in powering HTS coils. This paper reviews the recent progress in flux pumps for HTS coil magnets. Different types of HTS flux pumps are introduced.

ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...
