Development of portable DMFC system with low water crossover MEA

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
This paper describes inner-water circulation DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) system with low water cross-over MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly). Water permeation controlled layer which has lower permeability (K~10 -14 m 2) than conventional micro porous

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Zooplankton and Micronekton Active Flux Across the Tropical and Subtropical Atlantic Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Quantification of the actual amount of carbon export to the mesopelagic layer by both zooplankton and micronekton is at present a gap in the knowledge of the biological pump.

Simulación de un micro-evaporador para un micro-tubo horizontal circular de 1-mm

open access: yesRevista de Ciencias Tecnológicas, 2023
Flow boiling into micro-channels is a good option of cooling solutions for electronic devices. Numerical simulations allow designing correctly before manufacturing.

Experimental evidence of magnetic flux pumping in ASDEX upgrade

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Abstract In high-β scenarios with on-axis co-current electron cyclotron current drive, which normally lowers q 0 below unity, the absence of sawteeth suggests the involvement of an additional current redistribution mechanism beyond neoclassical current diffusion.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
